The Sun

Writer's picture: The CommunicatorThe Communicator

when i said i love the sun

i also love how it burns me

and the wrinkles that come with it.

i love it with its heat

and how it makes me sweat.

i love it even though

my ice cream melts.

i love the sun with honesty.

i love it not because it hurts

i love it because of everything,

even if it hurts.

because more than that,

it’s as beautiful as its sunrise, sunset,

sunlight that peeks through tree branches.

i love it

even simply how it makes me warm,

makes my brown skin golden

and turn my eyes hazel.

it makes the world go round.

i love it being the light

as i also have that light in me.

i love the sun and you cannot make me think otherwise.

This one is dedicated to all those who have not been sure of themselves and think they’re not as important as everybody else. There goes the sun, like you, being the light of someone else’s day, as you do have that light in you.
