The Communicator Bags 9 Awards at the 23rd OSSEI National Training Workshop

The Communicator secured multiple awards during the 23rd OSSEI National Training Workshop on Campus Journalism held today, September 26, at the Baguio Crown Legacy Hotel.

Nerio Ezeckiel Japos III won 1st Best Published Sports Article for “Fading or Wavering? A Look at ‘College of Champions’ Intramurals Campaign,” while Kaiser Caya and James Nathaniel Santiago earned 1st Best Editorial Cartoon and 1st Best Published Photonews, respectively.

Rhada Amarila placed 2nd Best Published News Report for “Asintado ng 2027 Badyet: PUP, Muling Haharap sa Bilyones na Bawas-Pondo,” while Henry Ramirez won 2nd Best Published Feature Story for “Esremborak’s Mahal Magmahal Gives Voice to Economic Realities of Falling in Love.”

Samuel Eneluna also received 4th Best Pulished Community Article for his piece, “Ang Mantsa sa Ilalim ng Bituin.”

Meanwhile, The Communicator was recognized as 2nd Best Newsletter for Tomo XIII, Isyu I and 4th Best Published Opinion Article for “Wala Pa Ring Aasahan ang PUP kay Marcos Jr.” The publication’s mini-magazine print publication, The Long Story, also received a Special Citation.

The recognitions add to the publication’s awards haul at the national campus journalism, with its staff receiving distinctions across various writing, visual journalism, and publication categories.

For this year’s delegation, Xyra Caryl Zaleta, the 28th Features Editor of The Communicator, was the sole representative of the publication at the national training workshop from September 24–26.
