STA. MESA, MANILA — DZMC - Young Communicators’ Guild (DZMC-YCG), the official news and radio organization of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines - College of Communication (PUP-COC), set to launch its revamped station in April 2025 as DZMC Pylon Radio with the tagline "Ang Radyo Mo, Isko't Iska."

With its new name, DZMC Pylon Radio merges both its legacy and future direction while paying homage to the iconic symbol of PUP Pylon, striving to produce up-to-date, relevant, student-centered, and socially relevant content serving the welfare of the PUP community.

DZMC’s Station Revamp Project Co-Head Geomari Dominguez iterated that the revamp started when the organization merged the roles of the writers and disc jockeys, now dubbed as Pylon Jocks, crafting a script that’s “true to their core and style.”

“Audiences can expect more structured and refined content that aligns with the current trends. Their listening experience will elevate as this revamp integrates newer visual elements, better script outlines, and engaging contents,” said Ken Camposo, the Station Revamp Project Assistant Co-Head, highlighting the difference between the previous programs and its six revamped programs.

DZMC Pylon Radio’s programs that eye for airing in April 2025 include its reimagined and redefined Balitalyado, Iskopinyon, Coolture, Spotlight, Status: Iskomplicated, and the newest addition to the line-up, Dear Isko, a radio drama series turning Iskolar ng Bayan experiences into compelling audio narratives.

Alongside revamped programs, PUP-COC’s official radio organization is also producing a pop-rock version of their station ID, and several public service announcements (PSA) as its commercial gaps.

DZMC’s Vice President for Productions and the Station Revamp Project Head, Joanna Mascardo said, “We [DZMC Pylon Radio] hope to provide more engaging and better programming by having a modern airing system and expanding our online presence through regular airing. This transformation will also help us reach a broader audience, not just Isko’t Iska, but students in general and even radio enthusiasts.”

Mascardo added that the station revamp plans to establish partnerships with several media outlets such as organizations, publications, and radio stations inside and outside PUP to further expand DZMC’s reach.

With the organization’s focus on the station revamp, its flagship events, PUP Radio Conference and PUP Radio Festival will not be held this academic year. DZMC will also skip a season from participating in Radio Veritas’ Campus Hour in which the organization dominated the previous years winning major awards.

Though the organization recognized these events playing a significant role in their legacy, the station revamp also marks a milestone for DZMC as it gradually rebrands in the coming months.

The organization will continue to utilize the social media accounts of DZMC-YCG for the remaining airings of the academic year. All social media pages named DZMC-YCG will only officially change to DZMC Pylon Radio as the Academic Year 2025-2026 begins.
