The Communicator, the official student publication of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines - College of Communication (PUP-COC), secured six major recognitions  at the 6th Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards (AOCPA), held at the University of Assumption in San Fernando, Pampanga on February 27.

Competing against 46 department-based and college/university-wide campus publications across Luzon in 12 journalism categories, the publication bagged four individual “Most Outstanding” awards, recognizing individual excellence in various fields.

Beyond individual categories,  The Communicator ranked 10th for Most Outstanding Campus Newspaper and 5th for Most Outstanding Campus Publication, affirming its strong standing among Luzon’s leading campus publications.

Mary Rose Maligmat, a news writer and former News Editor of  The Communicator, won 1st place for Most Outstanding Investigative Writer for her entry, "PUP faculty designees to lose ₱10K+ take-home pay due to night service reduction memo." The article probed the decision behind the reduction of PUP faculty night service loads amid a ₱256-million budget deficit.

Ariane Claire Galpao, Opinion Editor of The Communicator, also secured  1st place for Most Outstanding Opinion Writer for her piece, "Ballots, Handcuffs, and Nation's Youngest Convicts." Her article sheds light on the systemic poverty that drives juvenile delinquency over the controversial Senate Bill No. 2026, which seeks to lower the age of criminal liability.

Meanwhile, Photojournalist Hanz Gabriel Ramos placed 5th place for Most Outstanding Photojournalist for his entry, "Yakap ng Yapak," capturing the devotion of Rodel Antayao as he clung to the 'andas' during Traslacion 2026.
