Realm of Champions: COC Week '24 highlights collaboration across 4 Departments, aims inclusive founding celebration

True to what they say, it does take a village to raise a champion. Thus, from the COCian perspective, it takes color, vibrance, and collaboration to grow a community of champions—for 23 years now.

Spearheaded by student leaders from various academic organizations, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines- College of Communication kickstarts “COC Week: 23ntering the Realm of Champion,” the 23rd founding anniversary of the college, today, August 14-17, 2024.

The four-day event features different activities in which COCians are welcome to attend and participate. According to the working committee, they ensured full-force collaboration across four departments—journalism, broadcasting, advertising, public relations, and communication research in conducting the weeklong celebration.

Following the college’s colorful community, the committee aims to encompass more activities than the previous celebrations, adding that the theme itself is a nod not only to what COCians have accomplished but also to what they’ve worked for in the past academic year.

To officially start the celebration, a mass shall be conducted at the Interfaith Chapel at 2 PM on August 14, the beginning of the week-long celebration.

This shall be followed by the presentation of booths by various COC organizations on August 15.

By 5 PM, the most-awaited COC Cultural Night, “Kampeon, shall be conducted at the COC lobby. Both activities on the same day are open to all COCians.

The third day highlights the COC convocation with Dr. Divina T. Pasumbal as its guest speaker. This shall be followed by the college’s signing of partnership with the National Council for Children’s Television on the same date.

To conclude, the annual SIKAT awards, the creme de la creme of the weeklong celebration, shall be conducted on August 17, 2 PM, at the Bulwagang Balagtas. As per the working committee, they envision this year’s SIKAT awards to be an event COCians would look forward to attending.

Additionally, they emphasized SIKAT 2024’s aim to bring together students, faculty, and every part of the college in celebrating and concluding its founding anniversary.
