IN PARTNERSHIP | RE:VIEW Magazine reshapes norms by rewriting narratives

Society is shaped by stories that instill expectations for how people should think, behave, and live their lives. But not every narrative deserves to remain unchanged, some must be questioned, rewritten, and above all, redefined.

Carrying the tagline "Redefining narratives, changing the old script," the 32nd volume of iCommunicate, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (BAJ) 4-1N's RE:VIEW Magazine, is set to challenge long-standing norms during its launch on July 24 at the Marilag Events Place in Project 4, Quezon City.

As the official magazine of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines–College of Communication (PUP-COC), iCommunicate serves as a platform for stories that reflect the realities and perspectives of different communities.

Centered on breaking stereotypes, RE:VIEW Magazine takes a closer look at society's unwritten rules by featuring stories that spark conversations and examine the narratives that confine us, diminish our voices, and dictate who we are and who we should become. Through these stories, RE:VIEW invites readers to look beyond labels and foster critical reflection, inclusivity, and perspectives that go beyond tradition.

The magazine’s Managing Editor, Joanna Rose Martinez, emphasized the significance of breaking stereotypes in a society where people are often restricted by predetermined labels that have long invalidated their skills, voices, and potential.

“As we gear up for the unveiling of RE:VIEW Magazine, we challenge you to examine these beliefs and see the stories that change your idea of belonging to, creating, and succeeding. For the 32nd volume of iCommunicate, we gathered a number of voices that pose questions to the norm, celebrate individuality, and show that people are more than the labels that are put on them," Martinez said.

The launch is made possible through the support of its sponsors, ShutterLens Rentals, Ink Snap MNL, and Celestial Nomnoms.
