The Rise for Education Alliance PUP (R4E-PUP) maintains its campaign for safe, inclusive, and quality education for students as it gears up for the return of face-to-face classes next semester during its first general assembly of the year last January 22 via Zoom.
John Darrow Amorosa, Vice President of the PUP College of Architecture Design and the Built Environment Student Council (PUP CADBE SC), and one of the convenors, provided an update on the ongoing efforts for the call on “Ligtas na Balik-Eskwela,” reaffirming their partnership with the PUP administration.
Amorosa added that they are willing to present the LBE-Conducive Policy Program as they continue to ask for a concrete plan on how the administration will pull off a safe return for the students.
"We want to reaffirm ang pakikipag-alyansa natin sa PUP admin and magkaroon ng dialogue with them para makausap sila with regards sa guidelines dahil even on our end, wala pa kaming official na makukuha na guidelines with the PUP admin,” said PUP Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral (SKM) President Kirchoff Angala.
“That's why we are still pushing for another dialogue para mapag-usapan 'yung guidelines at syempre makapag-disseminate ng information doon sa ating mga estudyante," Angala added.
The organization also raised other concerns that are impacting the education sector, including the budget cut that the campus and other state universities and colleges will face, in hopes that the government will be providing the basic student services.
Amorosa also called for financial aid for students, supplying their needs amidst the current economic crisis.
He also stressed that the National Citizens Service Training Program (NCSTP) Bill is mandatory ROTC in disguise with the same culture of violence under the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the national police.
R4E-PUP also unveiled the primary committees for the alliance: Alliance Membership, Education and Research, and Creatives.
Other convenors were introduced in the assembly, including Angala, Angelica De Guzman, and Daisylene Suzy Ross.
With other positions remaining vacant, R4E-PUP is also looking for other convenors, a head for the Creatives Committee, and a deputy head for the Education and Research Committee.
