Colors Come Alive for OBRA: A Peek Behind the Canvas

Writer: The CommunicatorThe Communicator

Aiming to showcase stories and faces behind visual arts, iCommunicate is set to return this year for its 29th volume with BA Journalism 4-1N's OBRA on February 27 at One Corporate Center, Ortigas, Pasig City.

As the official magazine of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Communication (PUP COC) iCommunicate aims to tackle topics and issues significant to the lives and growth of the COC community.

OBRA’s vision centers around how art, through various platforms, is a story in natural form. Encompassing more than just visual pleasure, the stories narrated since October 2024 are a stance and a commitment to providing a canvas to Filipino artists.

Leading these manifestations is OBRA editor-in-chief Charles Vincent Nagaño, expounding on what’s to be expected upon the magazine’s launch: “As we are a space dedicated to celebrating every visual masterpiece and the maestros behind them, we—through our contents and stories—explore sides of art that are not usually depicted in the media.

He highlighted what makes OBRA more than just about art: “This iCommunicate volume covers diverse topics involving visual artists in the Philippines. From socioeconomic challenges to politically inflicted struggles, OBRA advocates for a society that celebrates masterpieces and honors artists.”

In preparation for the official launching of the magazine, OBRA is in partnership with SAMASA COC, BAJ S1DLAK, PUP Journalism Guild, PUP Broadcircle, PUP Communication Society, Mulat Documentary Guild, and The Turning Point, with media partners The Communicator, DZMC-Young Communicators’ Guild, and EDGE TV.

OBRA is sponsored by FranchiseManila, Motivo Philippines, and Le’Rese Accessories.
