PUP Advertising and Public Relations Organization of Students (ADPROS) welcomed freshmen students from the Department of Advertising and Public Relations (DAPR) with “Kwentuhang BAPR 2024: Rolling Through The Creative Board of Chances” on October 30 at the College of Communication.
In this year’s edition of the annual KBAPR, game booths set up by every block were present at the COC lobby. Freshmen students trailed the hallway for the traditional welcome walk, starting the program.
ADPR graduates Elisha del Rosario, Shaeka Pardines, Mayumi Enriquez, Christian Bohol, and Daniella Marie Geronimo who are all currently working as professionals in the advertising and public relations industry took the spotlight in their respective talks.
Introducing the world of BAPR
Del Rosario, Enriquez, and Geronimo introduced the program by discussing the dynamic roles in ADPR, such as the campaigns, projects, and setbacks they faced while in the landscape.
“BAPR is more than that,” Del Rosario reminisced on a realization when she was a freshman student. She addressed the common misconceptions about the program and discussed the various roles students might pursue while taking their courses. As one of the previous year’s Most Active Graduating Students, she shared that a growth mindset is important by embarking on continuous explorations and taking opportunities.
Enriquez shared how she took different roles and the possibilities and opportunities there are in advertising. She also discussed how they established a campaign from their past projects that were given recognition outside the college.
Currently working as a professional, Geronimo highlighted the different setbacks in an agency setup and ways how to overcome them. She emphasized that it is important to embrace challenges for it is a part of growth, as well as being coachable and accountable.
Rolling the dice
As the former executive vice president of PUP ADPROS, Pardines emphasized how building connections is important to navigate the program. She also reminded students to understand the landscape, build connections, and acknowledge how challenging the program is.
“[There is] no formula in navigating the world of ADPR,” she said.
Bohol, COC Batch 2024 valedictorian, emphasized how exposure to the industry, organizations, training programs, and other opportunities can give students an advantage that will help them in their journey.
“Learning from the community, [the] power of the community cannot be understated,” he shared on the importance of serving the community and being its representative.
Del Rosario and Pardines also imparted that exploring with teammates amid uncertainties and challenges makes it bearable.
“As you go through, mas matututo ka talaga, mas gumagaling… ‘Wag kang titigil lang, enjoy the process. You have a lot of your time,” Enriquez added as advice for the freshman students.
Furthermore, DAPR Chairperson Prof. Ronna Manansala gave words of support and encouragement to the students, reminding them values of humility and courtesy.
Meanwhile, the organization announced the extension of the Junior ADPROS Recruitment until November 5.
