The universe has finally aligned in favor of COC Cheering Squad's return.
Coming from a four-year hiatus, the College of Communication Cheering Squad (COC CS) staged its comeback to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) University Intramurals (UI) on October 22, placing 3rd runner-up in the Cheerleading Competition.
The cheering squad took the audience from the PUP Gymnasium to their cosmic domination-themed routine, performing out-of-this-world stunts and exhibitions, once again proving they are the “College of Champions.”
As per team captain, Mark Ehdriane Olivar, the COC Cheering Squad returned after a year-long recruitment and training for the contest.
.“Our alumni revived [the] COC Cheering Squad to bring back the tradition and the family they always go home to. This year's competition was just a stepping stone for us to grow, improve, and prove ourselves in our craft,” he said.
Since its five-peat reign in 2017, the squad has been eager to reclaim its throne and unveil its most awaited fightback in the series even if this is their first time competing.
According to Olivar, the supervision by their alumni and coaching staff made a huge impact on their preparation to face the smallest and biggest things ahead of them.
“Resources, basics, strategies, and routines, we all planned it well. From all kinds of problems, whether it was physical, emotional, financial, and even more, we managed to get back up and just push our limits even further,” he added.
Following its stint in the competition, the COC Cheering Squad shifts its focus on its plans and activities ahead.
